Menu
During this time, more preparation needs to be done on what to serve the customers during the social distancing period. All the while, the menu should remain exciting and in turn, appeal to customers. These can include, restaurants offering discounts on their menu to attract more people to dine. Additionally, creative campaigns can be designed and posted through social media in order to promote and spread exciting additions or changes to a particular menu. Menu items aside, you can also incorporate and highlight changes to the packaging, materials and (or) ingredients used. For instance, the menu itself using disposable paper or recyclable packaging for the food.
Food Safety:
Standard sanitation is needed even more in today’s current climate and so setting new guidelines for employees, ensuring they follow the process strictly is essential during this time. From facility operations, food contact and non-food contact surfaces, food temperature control to product inspection and rotation, every food safety practice should be addressed. And of course, employee’s health and personal hygiene should also be closely monitored.
Social Distancing
This is the biggest dilemma facing all establishments in the world is grappling with effective social distancing measures, yet all the while trying to get customers to enjoy your food. If you have outdoor facilities, encouraging those customers to dine outdoor might be an effective way to maintain effective social distancing and get customers to enjoy food and drink. Those who don’t have outdoor access, redesigning your indoor seating arrangements to ensure there are at least six feet of space between tables will be priority. Appropriate signage with directions and reminders to keep safe distances would be beneficial as well. Of course, making certain all employees wear necessary protection when interacting with customers
Operational Efficiency:
In the current climate, any and all improvements made to your restaurants’ operational effectiveness will be welcomed. Like no other time in history, reducing your overhead costs and increasing your margins is a now a matter of long-term survival. When reviewing your fundamental functions in your establishment, Delivery & Takeaway, Reservations, Catering and Privatisation, these can become burdensome for a Manager to handle all of this. How to keep track of everything? How to centralise your operations and multiple sales channels? How to negotiate a better deal with delivery services companies? While a variety of software’s exists across different categories, such as Reservations, Delivery, HR Management, Social Media, Logistics Solutions, Waste Management, Community Management, Stock Management, Recruiting, Finances, Wholesalers, Point of Sale (POS), among others; the possibility for real-time admin across various categories in a centralised format does not exist. Foodetective has and continues to address this pain point. Visually, we’ve solved this problem as your restaurant’s reception desk is most likely filled with hardware to manage your restaurant. The challenge the Foodtech industry faces is that it is fragmented with no unified or centralized systems for restaurants.
