Before I even start let’s just see how the urban dictionnary defines it:
Food Porn : taking mouthwatering pictures of delicious foods and proliferating them throughout various social media websites as status updates, thus tempting all those not even currently hungry into getting a food hard on and getting food-horny and blowing all of their heroic dieting efforts to hell.
Well that describes it pretty well. The goal is to get extra saucy, cheesy 🧀, buttery and have it stream down the food.
A few tips:
- Blur out a part of the food
- Shoot wide with a lot of plates
- Focus on the food 🔍
- Action 🎬
When you have blur in the picture ( by shooting with a high aperture ƒ2.8 or lower ) it immediately looks professional but also helps give the picture an eery look as if the food came straight out of heaven.
Shooting wide ( with a 28 mm or 35 mm lens ) and incorporating a large amount of delicious food in the shot is also an option. Consider shooting over the table.
Focus on the food and get close to it ! Nothing better to get personal… Pick up any details in the food and have it take the majority of the picture.
Get your hands dirty ! Aaaaand action: squish it, tear it apart, cut it, dig in it with a fork/spoon… Show us how it looks in the side. After all, it’s not always the outside that counts !
That’s all folks ! … You have no idea how hungry I am after writing this article.
As always thank you for taking the time to read this ! Tune in next week for another foodie article 🧡
By registering on Foodetective, you’ll become two things: Smarter than the guys next you (unless he’s registered) and the person that people like to hang out with when looking for restaurants, bars and secret spots. (I’m just saying).
