About us (Quickly)

Foodetective is a global foodie community offering a platform to connect eaters to the best places to eat and drink, with first class reviews written by people who simply love food (and don’t hate). Here, you will find the very best your city has to offer: from that restaurant your granny still eats at 30 years later, to the new cocktail bar that will be all the rage in a month’s time.
Our mission is to help everyone make the right choice when it comes to eating, drinking and new tasting experiences. All of this is brought together in one easy-to-use and beautifully designed website and app.

Our Detectives

Our promise to you is that you can always trust the businesses we list. It’s true, you won’t find all the restaurants in your city on our platform, but the ones you will see have been vetted by our professional foodies: our trusted Detectives.

Detectives are trained experts who love food (and cocktails, views, parties, bars, trucks, ambiance, and everything else that’s worth you leaving the comfort of your home).

Detectives are:

• foodies that take pictures of food just for fun
• they are the ones constantly talking about eating and drinking, whether you’ve asked them or not
• they are that friend you always ask for tips on where to go for a great night or a killer lunch

But that’s not all. To become a Detective, these foodies have completed our training and are using the gear necessary to create amazing reviews, full of the information you need and the photos to prove it. Forget blurry iPhone pictures with sh***y captions on Instagram: our Detectives are the real deal!

Detectives are not:

• stodgy reviewers from fancy French schools (though that’s cool too)
• teenagers paid $1 to write a fake review (that’s not cool)
• a guy whose girlfriend just broke up with him over dinner (that’s gotta hurt)
• some random person you have no reason to trust!
• paid by restaurants to write either positive or negative reviews — they do it to share their passion and contribute to their food community

It is our solemn promise to you that we are dead serious about food and drinks. We handpick our Detectives from the foodie community in each of our cities. When they come to us, they are already experts on their respective food scenes: they know the ins and outs, they can list their favourite spots at the drop of a hat. Eating out is almost a compulsion for them. We then train them and give them the tools they need to create the best possible content for you. They write engaging and honest reviews using our innovative Six Pillar model and take high quality photos, which ensures that you get all the information you need before making your decision.

Foodetective — a platform for foodies, by foodies

Sometimes, great reviews are just not enough. Our platform has been created by foodies to include the features that we want to be using. If you’re undecided about where to eat or drink, we can help you search by price range, cuisine, location, or through our “Perfect For” categories. Because you don’t want to take your mom to the same place you take your Tinder date.
